TORONTO – Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes goes to “great expense” to provide head-covering paper bags to hide WWE Universe members’ so-called “ugliness” at every opportunity. However, this week on Friday Night SmackDown, he paid an even greater price for betraying his longtime Legacy ally Ted DiBiase, who finally retaliated against the masked Superstar with a paper bag-assisted sneak attack. “I don’t remember the last time anything felt that good,” DiBiase told WWE.com moments after shocking his former “life coach” with a devastating surprise assault and hitting him with Dream Street. The last time Rhodes and DiBiase came face to face (or face to mask, in this case) was three weeks ago on Friday Night SmackDown, where DiBiase suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of World Heavyweight Champion and former Legacy leader Randy Orton. Rhodes accompanied DiBiase to the ring that night, but he offered little in the way of support for his cohort after the match. “To add fuel to the fire after losing, Cody comes in and I think he’s helping me up, but then he hits me with Cross Rhodes,” DiBiase recounted. “Then, he bags me, a guy who he was calling his friend, a guy who has so much history with him. We’ve been through it all. We experienced some ups – some really high ups as World Tag Team Champions – and we experienced some downs, but you know, what he did to me was uncalled for. Now it’s all about retribution and sweet justice.” As he searched for Rhodes in the locker room area of Toronto’s Air Canada Centre, DiBiase revealed how he plans to further punish the twisted and bitter Rhodes this Sunday at Night of Champions. “I’m going to take what’s most precious to him and that is the Intercontinental Championship,” DiBiase affirmed.
![]() Ted DiBiase has been pushed by Cody Rhodes … and he’s not going to take it anymore. As former allies in The Legacy, Rhodes and DiBiase worked together to do Randy Orton’s bidding. Flash forward to today and Randy Orton is World Heavyweight Champion and Rhodes is Intercontinental Champion. But, what about DiBiase? Perhaps his biggest accomplishment was holding the tag team championship alongside Rhodes for two reigns in 2008. Then after losing the tag titles, DiBiase went on to test Daniel Bryan in some competitive matches for the United States Championship – but he always fell short. In 2011, Rhodes claimed to be the one who could help revitalize DiBiase’s career. But his intentions were highly suspect. For weeks, DiBiase endured humiliation, including being berated by Rhodes, having paper bags put over his head – and even taking the brunt of physical abuse from the likes of Orton and the massive Ezekiel Jackson. Finally, on the Sept. 16 edition of SmackDown, DiBiase snapped. While disguised as a paper-bag-wearing member of the WWE Universe, DiBiase leaped from the crowd and assaulted his mentor. Now that DiBiase has let his rage out of the bag so to speak, will Rhodes suffer the consequences? Find out at Night of Champions this Sunday at 8/7 CT, only on pay-per-view. Order now.
( WWE.com photos | Screencaps ) Edge returned to SmackDown; Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes got ambushed by Ted DiBiase An emotional Edge returned home to both SmackDown and Toronto, informing the WWE Universe that he would host “The Cutting Edge” later in the show with special guests World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton and Mark Henry. However, The Master Manipulator was promptly interrupted by Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes, who simultaneously insulted The Rated-R Superstar and reminded the WWE Universe of his monumental triumph over The Viper on a the RawSuperShow four days earlier. Edge humiliated the infuriated Rhodes, walking out on him before he “fell asleep.” This caused the irate Intercontinental Champion to launch into a tirade on the WWE Universe. However, as he was proclaiming whose face should be covered up first, a disguised Ted DiBiase – wearing one of Rhodes’ paper bags – suddenly knocked him off his feet from the front row. Shaking with rage, DiBiase pulled off his cover and jumped the barricade, dishing out an onslaught on his adversary that culminated in Dream Street. Though Rhodes escaped before he, too, was covered by a paper bag, DiBiase’s successful retribution brought the WWE Universe to its feet.

I just wanted to make a post to let you all know I’m still here. There hasn’t been a post in over a week, that’s why I’m making this one. I checked Smackdown spoilers for this week, Ted is not on again. Hopefully he’ll be on Raw or Smackdown next week.
