Dipping Into Ted DiBiase’s Trust Fund
The son of The Million Dollar Man talks to IGN about reuniting with Virgil, carrying the famed diamond-encrusted belt and his match at Over the Limit!
At this Sunday’s WWE PPV Over The Limit, Ted DiBiase – the son of WWE Hall of Famer “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase (Sr.) – will be taking on R-Truth with the intention of proving himself as an established singles wrestler. A few months back, when he was still a part of the “Legacy” Tag Team with Cody Rhodes, we had a chance to talk to DiBiase at a RAW event in Columbus, Ohio. We asked him if he’d ever tried to do an evil trademark “cackle” the way that his father used to. DiBiase blushed a bit and admitted that he had tried it, but only in the shower and said that no one could do it quite like his old man.
Well, here we are now; with DiBiase finally out on his own. And he may not have the signature laugh, but he’s got his pop’s famed “Million Dollar Belt” and has debuted a new persona based on the one that made his dad so legendary; a cocky millionaire with bottomless pockets and distain for the competition. Of course, not everything about DiBiase is the same. He’s not a carbon-copy and he doesn’t want to be. We had a chance to speak with DiBiase again and ask him about his Over the Limit PPV match, the million dollar belt, and his reunion with Virgil!
IGN TV: What was it like to reunite with Virgil on Raw this past week?
Ted DiBiase: [laughs] That was really cool. It was a big surprise and I don’t think anyone expected it. Me walking out there and then just turning around with a smile and there’s Virgil. The guy who used to pick me up from school. The guy I used to monkey around with and jump on. I guess he’s kind of gotten smaller in his older age, but I used to grab onto his arms –he had these huge pipes, you know, these 24-inch arms back in the day and he’d just lift me up off the ground. I’d make him do it all the time. I used to bug the crap out of that guy. And now he’s carrying around the belt, pulling the ropes down, opening doors and carrying my bags. It’s a great feeling.
IGN: Backtracking a bit…how does it feel to be carrying around your dad’s Million Dollar Belt?
DiBiase: It’s fun. It’s a good feeling. It was a nice gesture by the old man to let me take it over. And unleashing the trust fund was even better. Because now I can do a lot of things that most people can’t. But that belt is special. It’s got a lot of history and it definitely deserves to be viewed by the fans. A whether you say you’re a fan of it or not, everyone likes to see it.
IGN: Do you ever worry about the line between paying homage to your father and being your own man and doing your own thing?
DiBiase: No, I’m not worried at all. My dad was who he was and I am who I am. This is just me being me. Life gives you lemons and you make lemonade. This is who I am. I’m a DiBiase. I didn’t ask for it, but this is who I’ll be. The biggest differences between me and my dad is, well, A: I think I’m more talented than he was and B; I’m definitely better looking than my dad was. And on top of that, I’m a movie star. He never made a movie so I’ve got one up on him already. So, I’m not worried because I think my actions will speak louder than words and I’ll start this Sunday, at Over the Limit, when I beat R-Truth.

The Fortunate Son promises to embarrass R-Truth at Over The Limit
Ted DiBiase Jr is ready to go Over The Limit this Sunday on Sky Box Office to defeat R-Truth.
The Fortunate Son tried to hire R-Truth as his new personal assistant in April. However, his offer was thrown back in his face with an insulting slap to the face.
As a result the two will go head to head in the squared circle at Over The Limit on Sunday night – and DiBiase will have a legendary figure alongside him.
“I’m ready to get some revenge,” DiBiase told skysports.com. “I don’t take being slapped in the face very kindly and am definitely looking forward to the weekend.
“I presented R-Truth with an opportunity to do some things for me in return for a lot of money; things such as carrying my bags, watching my back and maybe going to get me a coffee.
“He didn’t want to take the opportunity and, in return, slapped me in the face. That was completely uncalled for. Now, this Sunday at Over The Limit, along with many other great matches it will be R-Truth v Ted DiBiase with Virgil.
“The original Virgil, the man who was with the Million Dollar Man, my father, will be in my corner.
“He’s been teaching trigonometry for the past few years but we’re going to give him another shot. He wasn’t dumb like R-Truth to pass up the opportunity and make a lot of money.”

Thanks to my friend MelanieJo at Adoring-Mickie.net, I’ve uploaded 2 new high quality photos of Ted. Check them out below.
With his dad’s subservient enforcer Virgil in his corner, Ted DiBiase will square off with R-Truth — his prospective “new” Virgil — at WWE Over the Limit.
In his latest attempt to mirror the success of his father, The Million Dollar Man, the “Fortunate Son” has been on the lookout for his own Virgil, and tried to hire R-Truth as his new personal assistant during the April 26 edition of Raw. Insulted, R-Truth responded to DiBiase’s proposition with a stinging slap in the face.
Scorned and clearly not accustomed to rejection, the current bearer of the Million Dollar Championship vowed to make R-Truth pay for turning down his offer. Adopting the “everybody has a price” mentality his father made famous, DiBiase has stalked R-Truth for the past several weeks, paying WWE Superstars to pummel his would-be personal assistant to prove that disrespecting a DiBiase can be costly. But since R-Truth has fought back at every turn, the trust funded tough guy has hired the original Virgil as his bodyguard and is looking for the best revenge money can buy.
With Virgil in his corner, The Million Dollar Man went on to become a WWE Hall of Famer. Will Virgil’s presence prove to the WWE Universe that one can put a dollar amount on success? Or will R-Truth show WWE’s Fortunate Son “what’s up?” Find out at WWE Over the Limit, this Sunday, only on pay-per-view.
– In an interview with WWE Magazine, Ted DiBiase is asked what he won’t miss from his days in The Legacy, to which he replied playing with G.I. Joe action figures. He then relays a bizarre story of Rhodes once seriously asking him to play with said toys.
“Well, he wanted to play “War,” and I thought it was some video game or card game. Then he pulled all these dolls out of his bag. He lined them up and started making noises like, “Pow! Pow! Boom!” It was just bad,” DiBiase said. “I thought it was a joke, but he told me I needed to take it more seriously. I felt inclined to play along because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings. Never again.”

Cody Rhodes mentioned Ted in a recent interview he did with Slam! Sports.
He enjoyed his Legacy time with Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase Jr., but says it was natural to move on to something different.
The point was to introduce us, as The Legacy, the same as when Randy Orton and Batista were brought in with Evolution. I don’t think it’d be totally bizarre if three, five or seven years down the road from now, you saw a Wrestlemania match with me and on the other side, Ted DiBiase.”
Brett DiBiase had knee surgery on Monday in Alabama with Dr. James Andrews, reports f4wonline.com. The damage to his knee wasn’t as bad as originally thought and he will likely make a full recovery. Before the injury, DiBiase was scheduled to be called up to the RAW roster with his brother Ted.

Randy Orton and John Cena defeat Sheamus and Ted Dibiase with Randy hitting the RKO on Ted. John cena had this crowd going crazy and showed why he is the top draw in the WWE. Orton seemed to be bored, chewing gum until Sheamus gave him a boot and his gum went flying. It looked like Orton was going to attack Cena but they looked at each other and shook hands.
