28th Original Plans for Ted & R-Truth
May 2010 Review this post? Published by Kim, Filed in Ted News

Ted DiBiase suffered a concussion very early in his match with R-Truth this past Sunday night at Over The Limit when Truth slapped him across the face and knocked him loopy. An audible was called due to the injury, as DiBiase was tabbed to blame Virgil for his loss, subsequently knocking him out with the Dream Street. It remains unclear at this time whether Santino Marella hitting Virgil with the Vulcan Neck Pinch in a comedy segment the following night on Raw constituted his character being written off, or if it will happen within the next few weeks.

Regarding DiBiase, he won’t be allowed to wrestle until medically cleared. He is expected to be kept out the ring for a few weeks so he can heal.

26th Ted’s 2 Year Anniversary!
May 2010 Review this post? Published by Kim, Filed in Ted News

I’m not sure how many of you know this, but today, May 26th, marks the 2 year anniversary of Ted debuting in WWE! This day two years ago, we all became fans of The Million Dollar Man’s son, Ted. During his two years in WWE, he has been known as the the Million Dollar Man’s son, 2-time WWE Tag Team champion and we all know he will one day become a World Heavyweight Champion. In his first match as a member of the Raw roster, he won the World Tag Team Championship with Cody Rhodes. Aside from wrestling, he filmed a straight-to-DVD movie that was released last year called The Marine 2. Ted has done some impressive things in two years and we can’t wait to see what’s to come. Jasmina and I are so proud to be running this site and we’re so happy that Ted himself knows about it.
Next week marks the 2 year anniversary of the site. :)

Back from the break and Justin Roberts plugs Jon Lovitz’ comedy club and brings out tonight’s guest host. Lovitz comes to the ring with a Bella Twin on each arm. The Bellas have to roll Lovitz under the bottom rope. There’s a table set up in the ring and Lovitz sits at it with the Bellas. Lovitz says this is going to be a talent show with the WWE Superstars. Out first is The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh, in top hats, tuxedos and canes. They do a dance on the stage. Lovitz sounds the buzzer and stops them.

Next out is Jillian Hall. Before she can even start performing, Lovitz sounds the buzzer and stops her. Lovitz says he takes it the fans don’t like her. Lovitz says this is a big waste of time, looking for hidden talents of the WWE stars. Lovitz says the real talent must be in the audience. Fans raise their hand trying to get in the ring. A guy named Joe, wearing a Santino shirt, is brought into the ring. He just might be a plant. His talent is that he can pull his eye out of his face. Lovitz says something about this being PG. The guy starts messing with his eyes and squirts some eye drops into it. He starts smacking his head and pulls out a glass eye. The music hits and out comes Ted DiBiase with Virgil.

Ted takes the mic and says he wants the eyeball. Ted asks the guy how much money does he want for it. The guy says he can’t sell his eye. Ted says if he can’t buy it, he’s going to beat him up and take it. Virgil is flashing money to the guy. Out comes Santino Marella to the ring. Santino says he’s been practicing Lovitz’ submission hold and he’s mastered it. Santino says he’s going to apply it on Virgil if Ted doesn’t leave the fan alone. Lovitz says the submission hold is not a joke. Santino warns Ted. Santino drops Virgil with the finger pinch of Lovitz. Santino tries it on Ted and it doesn’t work. Ted grabs Santino and lays him out with Dream Street. Ted leaves and Lovitz is running his mouth, plugging his comedy club. The segment ends with Lovitz posing with the Bellas.

- While an injury isn’t confirmed, there was talk after last night’s WWE Over the Limit pay-per-view that Ted DiBiase may have been hurt in the match with R-Truth, or possibly hurt at last week’s RAW.

There were some spots planned for Ted’s match with R-Truth last night that didn’t happen, some of which included involvement from Virgil.

Eh, not sure if we should believe this since he was just doing fine last night. What do you think? I’d be crushed if it’s true. Let’s all hope he’s okay!

Ted DiBiase (w/ Virgil) vs. R-Truth
Singles Match

We get a quick video recap of the short backstage segment that led to this match. R-Truth is out to the ring first doing his rapping schtick, for which he gets a nice pop. Dibiase’s music hits, and he makes his way out to the ring with Virgil in tow, and of course wearing the Million Dollar Title. The bell rings, and both men lock up. Truth tries for the go behind, but Dibiase catches his arm. Truth turns it around, but finds himself backed up into the corner. Truth goes to punch Dibiase, but Ted goes between the ropes and the ref breaks it up. Dibiase catches Truth with a side head lock, and goes back to work on the arm, but Truth turns it right around. Dibiase slaps Truth across the face, and Truth responds with one of his own. Truth pounds on Dibiase against the ropes, and the ref has to break it up again. Truth ducks a clothesline, and hits a kick to Dibiase’s head. Truth sends Dibiase to the floor with a clothesline over the top. On the outside, Truth confronts Dibiase, then turns around and slaps Dibiase before sending him back into the ring.

Virgil is able to distract Truth, allowing Dibiase to hit a neckbreaker on Truth. Dibiase tosses Truth to the outside, he follows and immediate drives him back first into the barricade before sending him right back in. Truth tries to fight back, but Dibiase takes him up and stomach first down to the mat. Dibiase kicks away at Truth in the corner, but Truth comes right back. Truth goes into the ropes, but Dibiase follows to confuse him, and then hits a clothesline, sending him down to the mat. Dibiase locks in a rear chin lock. Truth fights up to his feet, but Dibiase responds with a belly to back suplex to take Truth right back down. Dibiase goes to the second rope and he tries for a double ax handle smash, but Truth catches him with a punch to the stomach. Truth places Dibiase on the top rope, and asks the crowd what’s up. Dibiase fights out of the superplex attempt, but Truth comes right back, hitting the ropes and making Ted crotch himself. Truth comes in with a couple of clotheslines and a big hip toss, following up with a flatliner that’s good for a two count. Truth tries for the axe kick, but Dibiase avoids it, and hits a huge electric chair drop that’s good for a two count. Truth is able to take Dibiase down to the mat, but Dibiase goes right for the ropes and the ref is forced to break it. Truth hits a weird modified stunner that’s good for another near fall. Truth hits a big corckscrew elbow, and pins Dibiase, getting the three count.

22nd Now On His Own in the WWE
May 2010 Review this post? Published by Kim, Filed in Interviews

It was just two years ago when Ted DiBiase made his television debut with the WWE. Most of that time since then saw him as part of the group called Legacy which also included Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.

Earlier this year, the group broke up. Now, DiBiase is his own man and looking for success as a singles wrestler. He’s begun doing that by taking the persona of a spoiled millionaire who gets whatever he wants by throwing money around. Sound familiar? It should since his father – and now WWE Hall of Famer — Ted DiBiase made it famous years ago with the company as the legendary ‘Million Dollar Man’.

Young Ted even has his dad’s ‘Million Dollar Championship Belt’ and his old bodyguard/servant Virgil by his side now. This Sunday at the WWE Over The Limit pay-per-view (8PM ET / 5PM PT), DiBiase will look to take another step forward as he squares off against R-Truth.

FanHouse spoke with him about the new persona, the breakup of Legacy, having his first match at WrestleMania earlier this year, his dad being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and more.

Brian Fritz: Did you know Virgil growing up?
Ted DiBiase: There were several times when he would actually pick me up from school. I remember, he used to be jacked. He used to have these huge arms and I’d grab on to those arms to do pull-ups. I remember doing that kind of stuff, jumping off his back on the couch. He was kind of like a play friend. Now, he’s in my corner this Sunday at Over the Limit when I face R-Truth. He’ll be opening the ropes and doing whatever I tell him to.

When it comes to the Million Dollar title, is that the original one you have?
Yeah.

Did WWE have it or did you dad have it?
My dad actually had it. I don’t know where he was keeping it either. I hadn’t seen it in an extremely long time. I didn’t even know that he still had it. Then one day, I get a knock on my door and it’s my father and he was trying to – I don’t know – make up for lost time I guess. It was a nice gesture. I think it’s kind of helped our relationship a little bit.

Now, you’ve broken away from Legacy and you’re on your own. You have this new persona. Are you worried that it will be too much like your dad and you won’t be your own person?
No, not at all. I’m nothing like my dad. I’m actually much better looking, more talented. I made a movie; I’m a movie star. I’ve surpassed my dad already. I have no fear of that whatsoever. My actions will speak for themselves.
